Mrs. Damon came to Carthage with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Cassidy, from Wisconsin when she was a young woman. Mrs. Damon was married here to Nelson Damon, well known contractor and builder. Mr. Damon was killed by a falling block of marble November 17, 1904, in Neosho where he had the contract for construction of a bank building. Mrs. Damon spent the winter months in San Gabriel with her son, Arthur Damon, for a number of years, returning here for the summer. She moved to California five years ago and had an apartment at Alhambra. She had been in failing health some time. While a resident of Carthage, Mrs. Damon was active in the First Methodist Church. she organized a Sunday school class of young women that later became known as the J. O.
