About Cornelia Christina Van Zyl (born Kok)
'Was her nickname Neeltjie? Anyone?
What is going on here? What am I missing?
- d4 Neeltje Christina * 12.10.1818 = Tulbagh 23.2.1819
- Her possible partner, is my 2nd great grandfather: Frans Edward Prins * 1808
- Confusion:
He had married these 2 ladies:
- Maria Elizabeth Kok and then later Geertruida J M A Kaltwasser.
He apparently also had this other extra 1 partner Cornelia Christina Kok (or was she a legit wife as well?)
Were there really 2 boys (or was it maybe just 1 son) ie: the 1st Stephanus Johannes Prins and then the 2nd Stefanus Johannes Prins. Discrepancies!
- Can these 2 sons maybe be one person, but just with the names being spelled differently? Duplicates?
1. with his 1st wife: Maria Elizabeth Kok : Maria Elizabeth Prins (born Kok)
2. and their son: Stephanus Johannes Prins: ( note the spelling of the name Stephanus Johannes Prins
and
Stefanus Johannes Prins – did one maybe die young?
3. then with his 2nd wife: Geertruida J M A Kaltwasser: Geertruida Johanna Maria Alexandrina Prins (born Kaltwasser)
4. then the timeline is confusing with this possible ‘’partner/ maybe wife?’’ Cornelia Christina Kok (Cornelia apparently was the sister of the 1st wife Maria): Cornelia Christina Van Zyl was born Kok. (The oral tradition says her nickname could have been Neeltjie and that they were maybe not married, when having the son?) Child's name unsure.
5. and then their (maybe) – ‘’out of wedlock’’ son: Stefanus Johannes Prins: (note the same name, but the different spelling, as the son of Maria): Stephanus Johannes Prins
6. Kindly however see that on the death notice of this 2nd Stefanus Johannes Prins - it is stated that Frans Edward Prins and Christina was married? – but that is not what out oral tradition says? What to believe?
7. Was this 2nd Stefanus’s name maybe the same name, just to ‘’substitute’’ the other 1st Stephanus Johannes, who might have died young? Facts anyone? Or is the other possible out of wedlock son rather called Frans Edward maybe and not even Stephanus J or Stefanus J?
- So - what is going on here? What am I missing, or not getting here? Wilma Basson
Please - any help to sort out this confusion, would be very much appreciated! HELP please!
