(1st) wife of Warren Hardenbergh. Daughter of Anthony Rutgers and Sarah "Sally" Alexander Johnson, who married (2nd) Rev. Robert Birch.

Colonel Hardenbergh was the son of Cornelius Low Hardenbergh & Mary Warren of New Brunswick, New Jersey and was a prominent lawyer & real estate broker in New York City, and later in New Brunswick. He graduated from Rutgers College, and was Secretary of their Board of Trustees, 1849-59. For several years he was Commissioner of Public Works for the City of New Brunswick. He summered on the Jersey Shore, during the latter years of his life he believed the sea air was good for his failing health.

  • Mary Warren Hardenbergh (1854-1934) married Professor Dr. George Mortiz Wahl of Germany in 1882, and died in Williamstown, Berkshire County, Massachusetts on January 8, 1934. No known children of this union. She is buried with her husband at the Williams College Cemetery.
  • Gerard Rutgers Hardenbergh (1856-1915), married Charlotte Louise Whitehead (1870-1927), daughter of Henry Whitehead and was a noted ornithologist and artist, with bird paintings being some of his most noted works. Gerard and his wife summered for 18 years at Bay Head, New Jersey. He died at Bay Head on August 19, 1915 and was buried in Stonington, New London County, Connecticut. - http://www.hardenbergh.org/people/gerard.html
  • Elizabeth Rutgers Hardenbergh (1858-1934) was a noted artist, painter and ceramicist. She never married and maintained a studio in New York City. She was a member of the New York Watercolor Club, the National Association of Women painters and Sculptors, the New York Society of Ceramic Artists, and the New York Society of Painters. Elizabeth died in New York City, March 31, 1934.
  • Charles Johnson Hardenberg (1862-1865) died about age 3 and is buried here.
  • Colonel Warren Hardenbergh lived a long and colorful life which included military stints in several South American countries, including Brazil. He worked as an engineer on the Panama Canal, and was said to have seen every country in the world. He married Frances (surname unknown) from North Carolina, who is buried with him at Arlington. No known children.
  • Annie Warren Hardenberg - shown as a male child on the Willow Grove index, is buried here with no dates.

Cornelia died in 1867, at age 34, and her husband married (2nd) to Catherine M. Ashton, the daughter of George Ashton and Helen Bradley of England, who removed to New Brunswick. They had one child Helen Ashton Hardenberg (1874-1950).
