Cornelius "Neal" Johnson

U.S. Veteran Neal Johnson 91 of New Paris, Ohio went to be with the Lord July 28, 2013 at his home, after an extended illness. He was born February 1, 1922 in Shade, Kentucky to Floyd D. and Lilly Lynch Johnson and lived in the Richmond area most of his life.

He formerly worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired from Conrail in 1983. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church, and enjoyed gardening and yard sales.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years Kathryn, five children Carolyn S. Horn of Richmond, Brenda K Gingrey (Ed Phenis) of New Paris, Ohio, Floyd D. (Linda) Johnson of Huber Height, Ohio, Vickie D. (Steven) Wheeler of Eldorado, Ohio, and Pamela L. (Darrell) Whalen of Cambridge City, 34 grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by an infant son, son-in-law Julius Horn, his parents, and 12 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday August 2, 2013 at Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home with Rev. David Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, with military rites. Friends may call 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
