Cornelius Bogart was born to Abel Westfall and Annetje Bogert at Montague, New Jersey. He was christened (C:) by the Kingston Church on October 15, 1721. In 1746, father Abel moved his family to the South Branch Valley of Virginia, near present Moorefield, West Virginia but eldest son Cornelius stayed in Montague and wed his first cousin Elizabeth Westfall, daughter of Jacob, on November 20, 1747. They had: 1) Annetje, C: on 17 Aug 1748 2) Margriet, C: on 5 Aug 1750 3) Jacob, C: on 11 Mar 1753 4) Mary in 1755 5) Isaac in 1757 6) Cornelius, C: on 27 Jan 1759 7) John, C: on 16 Oct 1762 8) Zachariah, C: on 18 Feb 1769
In 1773, Cornelius moved to present Petersburg, West Virginia. There was born: 9) Josiah in 1774
Elizabeth died there and Cornelius wed her sister Eleanor [Westfall] Cole in about 1778.
Note: Father Abel died intestate in 1755 so Cornelius, as eldest son, inherited his father's land of 400 acres with one mile along the South Fork of The South Branch of the Potomac River.
