Son of Henry and Harriett Bush Howard,husband of:(1)Salina Butler and (2)Elizabeth Kersey Father of Ethel and Enal and others:Farmer and Overseer for S.C.Governor Henry Hammond Confederate veteran;S.C.Cavalry,prisoner of war at Camp Lookout, Maryland. Reported to have died at the home of his daughter Enal due to complications of the lungs. Looking from road,grave is about 3/4 of the way back,on the left hand side.Slab and marker next to his wife Elizabeth. James Bush Howard,or"J.B." was first and foremost, a son of the South, and upheld his duty proudly as a Cavalryman and later through his suffering as a prisoner of war at the Yankee prison at Camp Lookout Maryland.He returned home after the war to Beech Island, South Carolina,which had been so ravaged by invading troops that there was no way of providing for his large family any longer.He then relocated to Johnson County, Ga., where he met and married Elizabeth "Pet" Kersey Scriews and became the proud Papa of two daughters,Enal and Ethel.The family later relocated to Pulaski County, Ga. Well educated and well written, he contributed to several publications. He died at a ripe old age and was buried in Bluff Creek Cemetery,in Pulaski County.
