Biography

Damaris was born in 1692 to Dr. Richard Bowen and Mercy Titus in Rehoboth, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

In 1713 she married Stephen Hunt, who unfortunately died just a few years later in 1717 at the age of only 29.

She married Jathniel Peck, Jr. in 1719. At her marriage to Jathniel Peck, she was known as widow Damarias Hunt. Both Jathniel and Damaris are listed in a document deeding the land she received from her late husband to Jathniel’s Uncle Solomon Peck, in order to settle Stephen Hunt’s estate. In both this document, and her last will and testament, her name is spelled Damaris. (Since both of these documents are primary sources, this is the preferred spelling.)

Jathniel died in 1738 at the age of 43. Damaris would live to her 51st year, dying in 1744.
