About Daniel Parish Browne
Went to Fort Bidwell, Madoc, CA. He was a Paymaster for the Army, as there were no banks in CA at that time. The money was brought to the Fort in a Wells Fargo Stage and was all in gold. The fort was converted into a school for Indians later. D. P. Browne went into the cattle business with three other men. They had the second largest ranch in CA. In 1902 he moved to Berkeley, CA continuing to manage his ranch and other investments.
