About the beginning of the second decade of the existence of the Plymouth colony, there came from England three young men, brothers, named John, Job and Daniel Cole. I suspect that they came over with William Collier, a merchant of London, about 1633. Their father is unknown. Whether they were brothers of James, the inn-keeper of Plymouth, I know not, but I judge that they were not.

John died at Plymouth in December, 1637, and in his will, proved January 2, 1638, he mentions by name, "Master Collier's men," his brothers Job and Daniel, and his sister Rebecca, wife of Job. He was probably unmarried.

Daniel Cole was born on 12 December 1614 in Duxbury, Lancashire, England., the youngst of five known children, all sons of an unknown father and Frances Unknown. A tailor, Daniel migrated to New England in 1633, when he was in his late teens. In 1643, when he was in his late twenties, he married Ruth Chester in an unknown location. Ruth bore him ten known children, seven sons and three daughters: John Cole Israel Cole Esther Cole Ruth Cole William Cole Thomas Cole James Cole Mary Cole Timothy Cole Hepzibah Cole. Daniel also had the following children Ruth Cole (this may be a duplicate of Ruth, above) Daniel Cole On 21 December 1694, about a week after he turned eighty, Daniel died of unknown causes in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.

Daniel was a tailor and came to Plymouth with William Collier in 1633 along with his brothers Job and John. James Cole of Plymouth was probably also a brother. Daniel was first mentioned in the records on 6 Apr. 1640 when he owned 50 acres of upland granted to him in Duxbury near William Bassett and Edmund Hawes. He was made a freeman on 4 June 1645 at Yarmouth. In 1643 he was in Yarmouth where he was reported as able to bear arms, and the following year in Eastham. By 1649 Daniel was in Eastham and had two deeds recorded in Nawset. On 9 June 1649 he sold 50 acres of meadow in Marshfield to Edmund Weston. He was back in Eastham by 1652.

Daniel was a member of the jury that tried Alice Bishop for infanticide in 1648.

Daniel was a deputy to the General Court at Plymouth from Eastham on several occasions from 1654 until 1689 and a selectman from 1667 until 1676 and in 1681 and he was a constable in 1664.

In 1661 Daniel was granted the liberty "to draw and sell strong water and wine in Eastham, provided that he always be furnished with good wine for the supply of those that are in need amongst them."

It includes the following:

The Jan 1637/8 Plymouth MA will of John Cole names brother Job Cole and ... brother Daniel (no surname). A 1630 St Olave, Southwark, Surrey, England will of Zachary Cole names mother Frances and brothers Nathaniel, John and Daniel and names brother Job executor. These two wills plus documented relations of some of these men to the same Collier family led Anderson to conclude that they were one and the same family. [2]Records of the Plymoth Colony of Massachusetts show that there were two COLE families living in the colony at an early period. Under the heading " The descendants of John Cole of Plymouth." is found " John Cole, with his son, Hugh (born in London), came to Plymouth in 1633." [3]Under< the heading COLE - - - Eastham Families is the following: Daniel Cole and his brothers, John and Job, came to Plymoth in 1633, with William Collier, a merchant of London. :We find no trace of kinship between John Cole and Daniel Cole., although at times , their descendants resided in the in the same or adjoining towns. Daniel Cole born in England in 1614, was the ancestor of Timothy Cole, Sr. of Rehoboth, Massachusetts . He married Ruth ____. And settled in Yarmouth. With the founding of the town of Eastham (a part of the Plymouth Colony he became one of the first settlers and is so recorded in a list dated May 22, 1655.

• DANIEL appears in the records of Plymouth Colony about 1633 with his brothers, Job and John, as well as John Colier. Daniel was named Freeman 1645 and held several political offices in Yarmouth and Eastham MA. In 1661 he was licensed to retail "wine and strong waters." Daniel married at Plymouth Colony RUTH (unknown). Ruth's maiden name is controversial and some researchers are of the opinion that she was Ruth Collier, a daughter of William Collier; this has not been conclusively proven to be correct. Other researchers are of the opinion that her maiden name was Ruth Chester but with no evidence that this is correct. Ruth was born about 1627; died 15 Dec 1694. Daniel was born about 1614; died at Eastham MA 21 Dec 1694. The estate of Ruth was administered 15 Jan 1695. Both are buried at Eastham Cove Burial Ground, Eastham MA.

Hunt wrote in an article published in The American Genealogist, Vol. 42: ORIGIN OF THREE EARLY PLYMOUTH FAMILIES: COLE, COLLIER , AND CLARKE " . . . proved by the will of Zaccheus Cole of St. Olave, Southwark (Surrey England), citizen and grocer of London, dated 16 Nov 1630 . . . In this will the testator named his mother, FRANCES, his brothers Nathaniel, John, and DANIEL COLE, and appointed his brother, Job Cole, executor. In New England the will of John Cole, dated about 1637, refers to his brothers Job Cole and Daniel Cole; to sister Rebecca and to Eliza Collyer and left legacies to each of Master Collier's men." This is the evidence that the mother of Daniel Cole is Frances (unknown) and that his father whose name remains unknown had died prior to the date of the will.
• It was Monday Dec. 20,1694 when Daniel die. Daniel was 80 years old when he pass away. Three brother Job, John and Daniel Cole came to Plymouth Mass in 1633 on the ship " Mary and James" with 190 passengers. William Collier, merchant in London came with the Cole brothers, Job Cole worked for William Collier, James Cole of the hill could also be related to the Cole brothers. Some books say he was a brother but he could be a cousin because he is not mentioned in Zaccheus's will. James Cole also arrived at Plymouth from Saco, Maine the same year that the Cole brothers arrived in Plymouth, Job and Daniel moved to Eastham,Mass. Daniel Cole was 19 years old in 1633. Daniel married Ruth Chester and removed to Yarmouth in 1637. But joined his brother Job at Eastham Mass 1643. He was a deputy 10 times and a member of the Yarmouth Militia, selectman,town clerk in Eastham Mass. He was a tailor and arrived in N.E. 19 years old. Daniel Cole's Will Daniel Cole died December 20, 1694 Adm was son of Israel at the request of brothers and sisters children, John, Timothy, Israel, James, William, Daniel Doane and wife Hephzibah, John Young and wife Ruth. • Collier married Jane Clark at St. Olave Parish in Southwark on May 16, 1611 and had thirteen children. Many of those children died young, and they only had four daughters with them in Plymouth Colony. Jane died after June 28, 1666. Her burial place is unknown.[2][3]

Daniel Cole (______). The younger brother of Job, and probably came over with him when they were both young men. The first mention of him is April 6, 1640, when fifty acres of land were granted him. His name appears on the list of able bodied men of Yarmouth for 1643. In June 1644, he was propounded for freeman and admitted and sworn in June 1645. In 1648 he was one of the jury that tried Alice Bishop for infanticide. He afterwards removed to Eastham. In 1652 he was chosen deputy for that town and was relected in 1654, 1657, 1661, 1666, 16667, 1668, 1669, 1670, 1671, 1672, 1681. In 1662 he was appointed to take account of liquors, shot, lead and powder imported. Two deeds are recorded, both in 1649, and both of which he sold in Nawset; also, one of fifty acres and meadow, at Marshfield, June 9, 1650. (Reg. vi-41-44) On freeman list of 1670 and of 1695. He died December 21, 1694, aged 80. He married Ruth _____, who died December 15, 1694 aged 69.

It was Monday Dec. 20,1694 when Daniel die. Daniel was 80 years old when he pass away. Three brother Job, John and Daniel Cole came to Plymouth Mass in 1633 on the ship " Mary and James" with 190 passengers. William Collier, merchant in London came with the Cole brothers, Job Cole worked for William Collier, James Cole of the hill could also be related to the Cole brothers. Some books say he was a brother but he could be a cousin because he is not mentioned in Zaccheus's will. James Cole also arrived at Plymouth from Saco, Maine the same year that the Cole brothers arrived in Plymouth, Job and Daniel moved to Eastham,Mass. Daniel Cole was 19 years old in 1633. Daniel married Ruth Chester and removed to Yarmouth in 1637. But joined his brother Job at Eastham Mass 1643. He was a deputy 10 times and a member of the Yarmouth Militia, selectman,town clerk in Eastham Mass. He was a tailor and arrived in N.E. 19 years old. Daniel Cole was born on 12 December 1614 in Duxbury, Lancashire, England., the youngst of five known children, all sons of an unknown father and Frances Unknown. A tailor, Daniel migrated to New England in 1633, when he was in his late teens. In 1643, when he was in his late twenties, he married Ruth Chester in an unknown location. Ruth bore him ten known children, seven sons and three daughters:

Daniel also had the following children Ruth Cole (this may be a duplicate of Ruth, above) Daniel Cole On 21 December 1694, about a week after he turned eighty, Daniel died of unknown causes in Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts.

Daniel was a tailor and came to Plymouth with William Collier in 1633 along with his brothers Job and John. James Cole of Plymouth was probably also a brother. Daniel was first mentioned in the records on 6 Apr. 1640 when he owned 50 acres of upland granted to him in Duxbury near William Bassett and Edmund Hawes. He was made a freeman on 4 June 1645 at Yarmouth. In 1643 he was in Yarmouth where he was reported as able to bear arms, and the following year in Eastham. By 1649 Daniel was in Eastham and had two deeds recorded in Nawset. On 9 June 1649 he sold 50 acres of meadow in Marshfield to Edmund Weston. He was back in Eastham by 1652.

Daniel was a member of the jury that tried Alice Bishop for infanticide in 1648.

Daniel was a deputy to the General Court at Plymouth from Eastham on several occasions from 1654 until 1689 and a selectman from 1667 until 1676 and in 1681 and he was a constable in 1664.

In 1661 Daniel was granted the liberty "to draw and sell strong water and wine in Eastham, provided that he always be furnished with good wine for the supply of those that are in need amongst them."

The Jan 1637/8 Plymouth MA will of John Cole names brother Job Cole and ... brother Daniel (no surname). A 1630 St Olave, Southwark, Surrey, England will of Zachary Cole names mother Frances and brothers Nathaniel, John and Daniel and names brother Job executor. These two wills plus documented relations of some of these men to the same Collier family led Anderson to conclude that they were one and the same family. [2]Records of the Plymoth Colony of Massachusetts show that there were two COLE families living in the colony at an early period. Under the heading " The descendants of John Cole of Plymouth." is found " John Cole, with his son, Hugh (born in London), came to Plymouth in 1633." [3]Under< the heading COLE - - - Eastham Families is the following: Daniel Cole and his brothers, John and Job, came to Plymoth in 1633, with William Collier, a merchant of London. :We find no trace of kinship between John Cole and Daniel Cole., although at times , their descendants resided in the in the same or adjoining towns. Daniel Cole born in England in 1614, was the ancestor of Timothy Cole, Sr. of Rehoboth, Massachusetts . He married Ruth ____. And settled in Yarmouth. With the founding of the town of Eastham (a part of the Plymouth Colony he became one of the first settlers and is so recorded in a list dated May 22, 1655.

Daniel married at Plymouth Colony RUTH (unknown). Ruth's maiden name is controversial and some researchers are of the opinion that she was Ruth Collier, a daughter of William Collier; this has not been conclusively proven to be correct. In this will the testator named his mother, FRANCES, his brothers Nathaniel, John, and DANIEL COLE, and appointed his brother, Job Cole, executor. In New England the will of John Cole, dated about 1637, refers to his brothers Job Cole and Daniel Cole; to sister Rebecca and to Eliza Collyer and left legacies to each of Master Collier's men." Three brother Job, John and Daniel Cole came to Plymouth Mass in 1633 on the ship " Mary and James" with 190 passengers. William Collier, merchant in London came with the Cole brothers, Job Cole worked for William Collier, James Cole of the hill could also be related to the Cole brothers. Some books say he was a brother but he could be a cousin because he is not mentioned in Zaccheus's will. James Cole also arrived at Plymouth from Saco, Maine the same year that the Cole brothers arrived in Plymouth, Job and Daniel moved to Eastham,Mass. Daniel Cole was 19 years old in 1633. Daniel married Ruth Chester and removed to Yarmouth in 1637. But joined his brother Job at Eastham Mass 1643. He was a deputy 10 times and a member of the Yarmouth Militia, selectman,town clerk in Eastham Mass. He was a tailor and arrived in N.E. 19 years old. Daniel Cole's Will Daniel Cole died December 20, 1694 Adm was son of Israel at the request of brothers and sisters children, John, Timothy, Israel, James, William, Daniel Doane and wife Hephzibah, John Young and wife Ruth. Joshus Hopkins and wife Mary Medad Tupper and Wife Hester. Children of Daniel and Ruth all born in Eastham,Mass.
