He marked out the farm Doornkloof next to the Hennops river in present day Irene in 1841. On the 9th of August 1841, Doornkloof was inspected by the Rustenburg “Landdrost Kommissie” and registered in his name. Daniël was married to the widow, Susara Magaretha Erasmus ( no relation ) born Jacobsz. She was the owner of the farm Rietvlej, which was situated east of Doornkloof. Daniël “Doornkloof” Erasmus therefore owned both Doornkloof and Rietvlej farms in 1841. Daniël died in 1875 and his three sons, Daniël Jacobus Elardus, Michiel Christiaan Elardus and Stephanus Petrus, inherited the two farms Doornkloof and Rietvlej. The three sons each inherited a one third part of Doornkloof and Michiel and Stephanus each inherited half of Rietvlej.
