A Patriot of the American Revolution for NORTH CAROLINA (Soldier). DAR Ancestor #: A081454

Daniel Nance (Nantz) married Patience Nance. According to his will signed 14 May 1802 in Bladen Co., NC and witnessed by Joseph Carroll & Winney Powers (Will Bk I pg. 436-437) he left three children: son, Wynne Nance, son Joseph Nance and daughter, Elizabeth Cook. He also named a grand daughter: Sally Mercer. To son Joseph , Daniel Nance/Nantz willed 200 acres on the Great Swamp joining Jonathan Singetary's line...and 100 acres purchased from William Singletary. In c. 1833 Jonathan Singletary's son, Roland, would marry Joseph Nance's daughter, Mary Winn Nance, all of that area of Bladen Co., NC. Daniel Nance is an established DAR line (Ancestor #A081454) through his son, Joseph Nance. Service record: Haun, NC Rev Army Accts, Vol V Book 180, part 4 p 464. Bladen Co. Militia, Wilmington, NC Dist. Daniel Nance/Nantz was most likely buried in the Great Swamp area near Butters, NC where his farm was located . Nance descendants are requested to add genealogical information to this memorial. Other Nance family members are buried here;however, there is no grave marker for Daniel Nance/Nantz. Daniel Nance (Nantz) married Patience Wynn Nance. On page iii (Forward by Dr. Morris Britt) of Bladen Co., NC Vital Records 1753-1915 compiled by Charles F. McKee 1995, he writes: ".... While most of those who died in Bladen were Scottish Highlanders or from England...Some were of French decent, such as the Nances, who were Huguenots and first came to Jamestown (VA) in 1607 by way of England. There were some native Frenchmen in the Robeson and Bladen county areas. Major Alexander C. Miller, from the south of France, died in Bladen in 1831....Bernard Laspeyre who died 1837 was also French....". Daniel Nance may have been the son of John Nance, Jr. who was born about 1718 in Prince George Co., VA. On 10 Sept 1755 he and his father, John , filed for land in Lunenburg Co., VA. This John left a Will 28 Feb 1761 in Lunenburg, VA.
