Daniel Andrew Peyton was born near Troy Mills, but Buchanan County, Iowa, the son of Lorenzo Dow Peyton and Sarah Ellen Hart. They are buried in Troy Mills, Linn County, Iowa cemetery. He married Estlle Josephine Ball on December 13, 1878 at Independence, Buchanan County Iowa. She is buried in this cemetery. He was a farmer and when moved to California he was a rancher. Daniel and Estella were parents of four known children:

1. Jessie Clarence Peyton born June 20, 1879 Troy Mills, Iowa.

2. Ashley Edmund Peyton born March 28, 1883 Troy Mills, Iowa. He died September 27, 1948 Los Angeles, California. He was married to Mary Agnes Ruprecht on November 1907.

3. Lois A. Peyton born September 25, 1888. Troy Mills, Iowa.

4. Raymond Hillman Peyton was born on June 1, 1890 Hanford, California.
