Daniel van Heerden (1957 - 2018)

Brief overview:

Daniel (61), a security company owner, was shot in the back by a 'Red Ant' security guard, on the corner of Johan le Roux road and boundary street, Meyerton, on 27th December 2018, after confronting him about theft of meat from a truck. Daniel died at the scene in the arms of his 17-year-old son, DonJaun.

Daniel was going to report the guard, Sabelo Dlamini, afterwhich he pulled his CZ 7.75mm firearm and shot Daniel once in the back, and then fled. He was arrested shortly afterwards by police, and charged with murder.

"2 years ago this very morning I received that phone call every child fears, the phone call to inform me that I lost my best friend my daddy.

As for me, I have peace and I am healed. I could finally forgive myself for missing out on a physical relationship of 5 years with pops because I was chasing my dreams in America away from home.

As for the man that took my dad's life well even after footage showing how he opened fire on a man with nothing but a car key in his hand. That man is still walking the streets in South Africa as free as a bird."
