Daniel "Paul" van Wyk (1930 - 2004)

Brief overview:

Paul (74), a wealthy farmer from Kromdraai smallholdings, Krugersdorp, and former owner of the Wondergrot at Krugersdorp was executed - shot in the head, on 22nd February 2004. An unknown number of weapons were stolen.

Oom Paul's body was found on Monday morning by his adopted son, also Paul van Wyk, on his porch on the farm Kromdraai. Van Wyk was fatally wounded in the neck. The murdered millionaire had recently sold his farm and part of the popular Wondergrot, which is located on the farm. He still lived on the farm.

Van Wyk Jr. told Rapport "I believe my father's death was the work of a syndicate." About his father he said: "My father adopted me and my brother (Dewald) when we were six months old. He was a hard person, but good to his fellow man. He always put another person first."

  • A few days later, Wilhelmina Myburgh (85), and her husband, George Dedrick Myburgh (87), from Roodepoort. Their bodies found in their kitchen. They were tied with ties and mrs. Myburgh is suspected to have been raped. Nothing was missing from their home.

  • A police spokesman, Capt. Tshisikhawe Ndou, confirmed that the police on Wednesday afternoon two suspects arrested in connection with these attacks. The suspects have already appeared in the magistrate's court on four counts of murder.
