Milestones in South African ancestry.

The Honourable Charles Pritchard was my second great grandfather. Lord Henry de Villiers was my fourth cousin four times removed. Pierre de Villiers born Burgundy, France, in 1633 was my ninth great grandfather. Piet Retief, the Voortrekker leader was my first cousin five times removed. The Rev. John Eedes was my great grandfather. Sebastian Valentyn Cloete was my second great uncle

The De Villiers-Graaff connection. Anna Elizabeth Graaff (07/18/1827 - 12/17/1900) was my fifth great aunt's husband's wife's great niece. She married Petrus Norbertus Graaff. Her father was Pieter Hendrik de Villiers (1788 -1853) and he was married to Catharina Helena Minnaar. Her grandfather was David de Villiers and he was married to Anna Roux. Sir David de Villiers Graaff is my fifth great aunt's husband's wife's 6th great nephew. Gaedry Graaff is my 6th great grand father's wife's 6th great niece.

( Unedited) Jacob Pieter Cloete of Groot Constantia (1793 - 1875) was Harriet Cloete's husband's uncle. Hendrik Cloete of Groote Constantia (1792 - 1870) was Harriet Cloete's (my second great aunt's) husband's first cousin once removed. (Or my second great uncle's brother, depending on which path you follow.) He was married to Helen Christian Graham, the sister of the founder of Grahamstown: Col. John Graham.
