1880 CENSUS--Firdinand (sic) Maxfield(43) and wife Daphony R.(44), and <p>their daughters Ethel S.(6) and Inez (2). Daphne was prob. widowed</p> <p>between 1863 and 1874 and married F. Maxfield after 1870 and had at</p> <p>least 2 daughters by him. Her children by her first marriage, Florence,</p> <p>Sylvanus and Orpheus would then have been 23, 22 and 15, and must have</p> <p>lived elsewhere.</p>

1850 CENSUS--Prospect, ME. Family of Sylvanus I. and Remember Roberts, <p>incl. children Daphne, Urbana, Orpheus and Edmond. However, acc. to</p> <p>Parsons, Mary Jane, wife of Sylvanus J. Roberts died before this time.</p> <p>Mary Jane was probably mother of Daphne, Orpheus, Urbana and Edmund</p> <p>Laurens as there is an age gap between Edmund L. and next oldest child.</p> <p>Daphne later named her children after her father Sylvanus, and brother</p> <p>Orpheus.</p>

Also, James <p>not found in CA, although his 1st son Sylvanus supposedly born there in</p> <p>1858 acc. to 1895 Montpelier census of Sylvanus I. Staples & family.</p> <p>They must have returned to Maine by 1865-65 when Orpheus F. was born</p> <p>however.</p>
