Father is John Rubin Cook, Sr., Mother is Nancy Elizabeth (Fogleman) - Earl
David was the youngest child of John Cook, Sr and Elizabeth Coleman, and the only one born in Kentucky. The family had left North Carolina about 1799, and eventually arrived in Wayne County, Tennessee about 1817. The site was Cravens Mill, later renamed to Martins Mills. It is believed that David's mother, Elizabeth Coleman Cook died before reaching Tennessee, because John Sr married Elizabeth Rose in 1819 in Wayne County. David married Rhoda Hawk in Wayne County in about 1826. They continued living in the Cravens Mill area following John Sr's death in 1844. He is in the records in Hardin County as a Justice of the Peace, performing marriages in 1841. He and Rhoda moved to Crawford County, MO in about 1852.
