David Curiel Lopo Ramires nació en Lisboa en 1576 , casado en Amsterdam con Rajel de Pina en 1617. que murió en 1622. Se volvió a casar con Rajel Abuav o Aboab, en 1651 y tuvo cuatro hijos: Sara, Emanuel (nacido en 1654 ), Isaac (nacido en 1662 ) y Esther. Nació en 1666 Era conocido como un ladrón y la comunidad judía de Amsterdam le impuso un jérem (defenestración judía) el 10 de agosto de 1651 hasta el 18 de junio de 1666 , solo después de pagar 1.000 florines al fondo de caridad de la comunidad. En 1658 se mudó a Amberes e intentó establecer allí una comunidad judía. Se dice que fue atacado por un inmigrante alemán , salvado por sus vecinos cristianos , pero gravemente herido.El gobierno holandés se disculpó con Curiel.

Lopo was not the husband of Sara. He was her uncle. He fathered her child out of wedlock, but denied paternity and refused to marry her because she had a child.
