3 October 1656: Charter by David Montgomerie of Cockilbie, with consent of Jean Forrester, his mother, in favour of Mr Cuthbert Cunninghame, son of Alexander Cunninghame of Corsehill, of 40s. land of Kirkton of Stewarton, in bailiary of Cunninghame and sheriffdom of Ayr, and teinds thereof, and the 5 merk land of Balgray in said bailiary, in warrandice of above lands. 28 November 1661: Charter granted by David Montgomery of Langshaw in favour of John Montgomery, his brother german, second lawful son of the deceased John Montgomery of Cockilbie, his heirs and assignees, of the said lands reserving nevertheless the free tenement and liferent of Helen Houstoun, spouse of John Montgomery, late of Langshaw, during all the days of her life, if it should happen through her said husband deceasing she surviving; to hold of him for performance to the said Alexander, Earl of Eglinton and his heirs and successors, of ward and relief as often as they shall happen.
