Obituary: David W. Thompson Dies of Pneumonia - David W. Thompson formerly of Bountiful but of late years of New Castle, Iron county, died of pneumonia after a brief illness, at the hospital at Cedar City. The remains were brought to Bountiful Monday. Deceased was the son of David Wilkin and Pamelia E. Barlow Thompson and he was born in Bountiful sixty-three years ago, on the 4th of last June. With the exception of about eight or nine years that the family lived at Panaca, Nevada, where his father died when David was but a small boy, he resided in Bountiful until he was married when they located at Chesterfield, Idaho, later living in West Point, this county and locating at New Castle, Utah.
He is survived by the following sons and daughters, David W. Thompson son and Ortize Thompson of Salt Lake City, Fornatus Oscar Thompson and Ernest Fay Thompson of Enterprise, Elnora Rosline Wood, Cedar City and Theresa Edison of Rolfe, Iowa. He is also survived by the following and brothers and sisters: Israel Ernest Thompson and Mrs. Hyrum (Laura) Sessions of Bountiful. Mrs. C. L. (Pamela Elizabeth) Smith of Centerville and Mary Theresa Call of Colonia Dublin, Mexico. His wife Fanny Samantha Dustin Thompson preceded him in death five years. He also has eleven grandchildren.
Mr. Thompson served as an usher in the lower house of the state legislature during the last session having been appointed to that position by Le Grand Pace of Iron county. He also did considerable Temple work the last two or three years.
Funeral services were held in the Bountiful Tabernacle, Wednesday at 2 p. m. Bishop Cannon presiding. The speakers were, Bishop George Bennett of West Point, Grant Ivins of Salt Lake, Mr. Sevey of New Castle, Granville Barlow of Pocatello, and Bishop Cannon. The singing was furnished by a quartet. The opening prayer was by D. H. Wood, benediction by Amos Cook and John H. Barlow dedicated the grave. Burial took place in the Bountiful cemetery.
