David Bishop Warren, Sr., was born abt 1764, probably in Sunderland in the Hampshire Grants (now VT).

His father, Gideon Warren, was Capt. in the Green Mountain Boys, and Colonel of the 15th VT Militia during the Revolutionary War. Col. Warren superintended the building of Ft. Warren in Castleton, VT, and was wounded in the elbow at the taking of Ft. Ticonderoga on 10 May 1775. His mother was likely Anna Bishop, daughter of David Bishop of Sturbridge MA.

David Bishop Warren was a fifer in Ebenezer Allen's Regt. during the War. He married Grace Fletcher of Poultney VT in the Spring of 1784. They resided in Poultney until abt. 1788, when he took the Freeman's Oath in South Hero, VT. By Spring 1793, he began selling his land in South Hero, and he and his family of 8 children, went by boat up Lake Champlain into Canada. We first find him owning land in Buckingham Twp, Quebec, on the Grand (now Ottawa) River north and slightly east of Ottawa. Next we find him in Hawkesbury, Prescott Co. Ontario. By 1810 he had purchased land in South Crosby, Leeds Co. Ontario, where he farmed until Oct. 1828, when he deeded his farm to son, Artemas Warren.

David Bishop Warren returned to the home of family in Hampton, NY, after that date. A funeral service for him was conducted at the Christ Church in Hampton on 22 Mar 1829. He is buried near the grave of his father, Gideon, and his brother Caleb Warren. His wife, Grace Fletcher Warren, predeceased him, most likely in South Crosby, Ontario, but no grave for her has been found.
