Dawid Herszenberg

"Dawid was born 7 August 1844 in Zgierz as the son of Izrael Hirszenberg and Estera Laja Kendlisz. He learned to be a weaver by profession, which made it possible to start a family. On 28 December 1863 Dawid married Sura Perla [Sara], one year his junior, residing in Rzgów, daughter of Szmuel and Hinda Awner wneeith Auerbach. Although the wedding was held in Tuszyn, the couple soon moved into the building at the southern street frontage of Św. Jakuba Street in the area of the Old Village in Łódź. Now it is very difficult to recognize the area, because many modern (for the time) residential buildings were erected there after World War II13. Św. Jakuba Street survives only as a small fragment that does not even follow the same route as its predecessor. "

"The Hirszenbergs had eleven children. It might be worthwhile to list them all. The age difference between the oldest and the youngest child was 23 years."
