Dawie van Zyl (1947 - 2007)

Dawie (60), was bludgeoned to death with an iron pipe in the garage at his home in Hardekool Street, Doringkruin, Klerksdorp, on 26th October 2007 at around 19h00.

His wife, Maranda (48), was in the couples office which is next to the garage, and when she turned around was hit with the pipe several times over the head. She lay still on the floor until the perpetrator left. According to police spokesperson Adele Myburgh, Maranda pretended to be dead. Her husband was presumably already dead by then. She was admitted to Wilmed Park hospital and treated for multiple head and facial injuries and a broken right arm, and was in a stable condition.
