Dayton Hobbs was a pastor, pioneer Christian school administrator, and inventor of Tee Ball, a baseball game played by youngsters throughout the United States and other countries as well.. He studied for the ministry at Bob Jones University and graduated in 1954.
Veteran of World War II. Served as a B-24 pilot with the United States Army Air Corps from 1943-1945.
Founder and pastor of Grace Bible Church in Milton, Florida; Santa Rosa Christian School, Gospel Projects Youth Athletic Club, The PROJECTOR, and The Children's Bible Club ministry. Hobbs was an educator since 1954 and served as a principal and administrator since 1959. He served twice as president of the Christian Educators Assn. of the Southeast. He was also a co-founder of the Florida Assn. of Christian Colleges and Schools and served as the Vice-President of that organization from 1970 – 1990. Hobbs was considered to be a leading voice in Fundamentalism.
A "Tee Ball" trademark was registered in the early 1970s with the United States Patent and Trademark Office by Robert Dayton Hobbs, the pastor of a fundamentalist Christian church he founded in Milton, Florida, and also the organizer in the late 1950s of the first organized youth baseball program in Santa Rosa County, Florida.
