Sons James, Jonathan, Ebenezer and Elkanah Hamlin, having already received large portions of their fathers estate in land and meandows, housing and commonage at Barnstable, received two shillings each in the will of James Hamlin dated 13 September 1717.
Deacon Ebenezer Hamblin was a prominent man. He lived on his father's homestead at Hamblin Plains, West Barnstable, which property he sold to Col. Gorham. The date that he removed from Barnstable is unknown, and he may have resided afterwards at Rochester MA. He removed to Sharon CT. That date is also unknown, but it is traditional that he was one of the proprietors as early as 1730. He died at Sharon in 1755.
He married (1) 4 April 1698 Sarah Lewis; her father is not identified. Ebenezer and Sarah had seven children born at Barnstable. Ebenezer married (2) at Rochester MA 20 September 1729, Elizabeth, widow of Samuel Arnold of Rochester.
