Deacon John Loomis was born in 1622. He was admitted to the Windsor church on 11 Oct 1640. He married 3 Feb 1648/49, Elizabeth Scott of Hartford, the daughter of Thomas Scott. They lived 8 years in Farmington, Conn., but returned to Windsor. His will, signed John Loomys and dated 27 Aug 1688, is preserved in the Probate office at Hartford. He d. 1 Sep 1688 at Windsor, CT (monument still preserved in the Windsor burying ground). His wife survived him.

Deacon John Loomis arrived in Windsor, Conn. with his father and mother, Joseph and Mary (White) Loomis about 1639. He was accepted a member of the Windsor church on 11 Oct 1640. He was granted large acerage from the Plantation consisting of 40 acres in the area of Farmington, Conn. on 3 May 1643. John resided at Farmington between 1652 and 1660. He returned to Windsor in 1660 or 1661 and became deacon of the church. He signed his name "John Loomys" on his will which is in the Probate office at Hartford, Conn. His monument still stands in the Windsor Burying Ground where he was laid to rest following his death on 2 Sep 1684 in Windsor, Conn.

Deacon John Loomis, b. Co. Essex, England, 1622 D. Sep 1, 1688, 66 years of age Married Feb 3 1648-9 to Elizabeth Scott Elizabeth Scott B.1625 D. May 7 1696 Daughter of Thomas and Ann Scott who sailed from Ipswich England April 1634 to Ipswich, Mass. and had with them Daughter Elizabeth age 9. They removed to Hartford Conn. John was admitted to the Windsor Church Oct. 11 1640 On May 3rd 1643 he had granted him from the Plantation 40 Acres of land. he resided in Farmington from 1652 to 1660 when he returned to Windsor, CT. and was Deacon of the Church. He was deputy to the General Ct. In 1666 and 7 Also from 1675 to 1687. There is a monument which is preserved in the Windsor burying ground. His will is preserved in the probate office at Hartford, and his name is signed John Loomys. All his children were born in Windsor Ct. except. 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th they were born in Farmington.
