  • He was bur. Feb. 16, 1647. Will prob. 28 (1) 1648; wife Edna had a legacie from her bro. Wm. Halsteed; son 'Joseph', bro. James B., nephew John B. The widow m. 2, Ezekiel Northend, whom the Court made guardian of 'Joseph' 2 May, 1649.

THE NEW ENGLAND HALSTEADS

Edna Halstead, so mentioned, married Richard Bayley, of Rowley, Massachusetts, and they had one son, Joseph Bayley, born about 1646. Richard Bayley came to America in 1638 in the ship Bevis of Southhampton, England, at the age of fifteen years in the care of Steven Dummer. Thus he was born in 1623. If he married at twenty-two, it was in 1645. If Edna Halstead was eighteen when married, she was born in England in 1627. Richard Bayley died in 1647. Edna Halstead Bayley married Ezekial Northin on December 1, 1646. She had legacies from her son Joseph Bayley, indicating that he died young, from James Bayley, her brother-in-law, and from John Bayley, a nephew and she died February 3, 1705-06. By the union with Northin there were seven children-five daughters and two sons.
