Stephen Chapin Baldwin, son of Lt. Isaac Baldwin, Jr., and Hannah Caldwell, was born on September 2, 1810; married on February 27, 1832 with Prudence Fisher of Newport; settled in Hillsborough, but removed to Laconia in 1841, where he died. in 1876. Was Deacon of the Congregational Church for many years.
