About Deacon Theophilus Baldwin, Sr
Theophilus Baldwin, of Stonington, (No. 23) m. 1st, Priscilla Mason, (No. 27) that family, May 25, 1710, dau. of Daniel Mason, ·and granddaughter of the famous Major John Mason; granddaughter also of Rev. Jeremiah Hobart, of Hingham, Mass., whose daughter Rebecca was Daniel Mason's second wife. Mrs. Priscilla (Mason) Baldwin d. soon after the birth of her son Sylvester. Hem. May 1, 1724, Jemima Powers, who d. in 1733, and Oct. 18, 1733, m. Mrs. Elizabeth Hascall, of Norwich. He was the first deacon of the church organized in 1727, in what is now North Stonington. In many ways a man of mark in the town, having character, ability, wealth, and a remarkably sunny temper.

DEA.THEOPHILUS2, John Sr.1 (of Stonington)
Theophilus Baldwin, son of John Baldwin and Rebecca Palmer, (dau. of the first Walter Palmer, of Stonington, and young widow of Elisha Cheesborough), was born in Stonington, Connecticut in June 1683 and remained there.
He married on May 25,1710 with PRISCILLA MASON, dau. of Lt. Daniel Mason, and grand daughter of the famous Capt. John Mason. It is through this marriage only that John of Stonington has descendants who bear the family name.
Children were: John (1711), Priscilla (1713), Theophilus (1716) and Sylvester (bpt 1719).
His wife Priscilla died and he married 2nd on May 1, 1724 with JEMIMA POWERS, who died 1733. He married 3rd on Oct. 18, 1733, with Mrs. ELIZABETH HASCALL, of Norwich, but he had no other children.
He was a man of mark in the town, having character, ability, intelligence, wealth, and a remarkably sunny temper. Theophilus was the first deacon of the North Church, in Stonington. Priscilla Mason (his 1st wife), on her mother's side, was grand daughter of Rev. Jeremiah Hobart, of Hingham, Mass., and her mother's name was Rebecca.
