About Deborah Goodridge

Note: RE: Wives of Benjamin Goodridge. According to many sources Benjamin Goodridge was the first husband of Mary Jordan, Deborah's sister, and that marriage is listed in the Newbury VR 1663. [1]

Other sources indicate Benjamin's first wife is not Mary Jordan, but is actually Deborah Jordan who died in 1676. Mary Jordan married John Kimble. Possibly a transcription error in Newbury Marriages? Anderson, R. C. Great Migration I-L indicates Benjamin married Deborah Jordan in 1663 and the will of Jane Jordan, clearly states, Deborah, now deceased, wife of Benjamin Goodridge. [2] [3] [4]

Biography

Deborah Jordan was born on December 4, 1647 at Ipswich Massachusetts, daughter of Francis Jordan and Jane Wilson. [5] [2] [6]

She married Benjamin Goodridge of Newbury, Massachusetts on September 8, 1663. [7] [2] Benjamin was born at Watertown, Massachusetts on April 11, 1642, son of William and Margaret Goodridge. [8] [9] [4]

Deborah died at Newbury on Nov. 28, 1676. [7]

Her mother, widow Jane Jordan's will was written on December 10, 1689, and was proved on October 30, 1693. [2][3] In it her mother Jane left bequests to the children of her daughter Deborah Goodridge now deceased, wife of Benjamin Goodridge, viz:

Benjamin
Joseph
Daniel
Josiah [2][3]
After Deborah's death, Benjamin Goodridge married Sarah Croad at Newbury on November 16, 1678. [7]
