Of Dutch descent, Deborah was the daughter of John Person and Elizabeth Tipple Person. Variations of spellings abound in most records. Deborah was born at Coeymans, New York and was baptized at Catskill, New York. Deborah resided with her parents at Pleasant Valley, New York (later known as Hardscrabble and very near to Roxbury) when she married to Jonas More in 1796. They made their home first at Moresville, New York (now known as Grand Gorge) but soon relocated to their new farm of 420 acres just above Roxbury. Her husband died in 1853 and Deborah was then cared for in the home of their son, John. Deborah and Jonas were the parents of nine children; James P. More, John Person More, Betsy Taylor More, Jane More, Hiram More, Solomon More, Henry McKinstry More, Jonas More, and Mary More.
