About Derek Winn, 5th Baron St Oswald
Derek Edward Anthony Winn, 5th Baron Saint Oswald of Nostell was born on 9 July 1919. He was the son of Rowland George Winn, 3rd Baron Saint Oswald of Nostell and Evie Carew Greene. He married Denise Eileen Charlotte Loyd, daughter of Wilfrid Haig Loyd and Emily Charlotte Eileen Oakeley, on 10 June 1954. He died on 18 March 1999 at age 79.
He was educated at Stowe School, Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England. He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1938 in the King's Royal Rifle Corps. He gained the rank of Captain in the Parachute Regiment. He fought in the Second World War, in North Africa, where he was wounded.
He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of New Zealand between 1943 and 1945. He was with the Malayan Police Service between 1948 and 1952. He was a film producer between 1953 and 1967. He wrote the book I Served Caesar, published 1972.
He succeeded as the 5th Baron Saint Oswald of Nostell, in the West Riding of co. York [U.K., 1885] on 19 December 1984. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of the West Riding, Yorkshire in 1987.

Married 10 Jun 1954 Charlotte Denise Eileen Loyd, only daughter of Capt Wilfrid Haig Loyd, of Oakhill, Seaview, Isle of Wight, by his wife Emily Charlotte Eileen Oakeley, 2nd daughter of Capt Sir Charles John Oakeley, 5th Bt., of Frittenden House, Cranbrook, co. Kent.
