WEISMANN--Dietrich.
Dietrich "Dick" Weismann, 77, of New York City, passed peacefully December 9, 2015 in his home after a ten year struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Newark, NJ on October 18, 1938, Dick Weismann went on to become an outstanding portfolio manager and Partner at Neuberger Berman, where he worked for more than 30 years. After retiring in 2003, Mr. Weismann started a family office investment firm, Weismann Associates LLC. Dick adored his family and is survived by his wife, Philippa Weismann; his son, Paul Weismann; his daughter Lucy Veltri; and his six grandchildren. Dick was passionate about helping those less fortunate through policy research. He was a longtime trustee and subsequent Chairman of the Board of the Manhattan Institute, a highly influential think tank dedicated to free markets and finding solutions to address problems in our cities. Dick was also a strong supporter of education options for low-income families, and through grants and other philanthropic gifts, helped many wonderful institutions such as Incarnation School in Washington Heights. He was an avid sailor and a highly competent private pilot with an instrument rating for 20 years. Dick will be buried Sunday, December 13 next to his mother in Sag Harbor, New York. A memorial service will be held in New York City in January 2016, details to be announced. Published in The New York Times on Dec. 12, 2015
