Dirk Koekemoer (1934 - 2013)

Brief overview:

Dirk (79), and his wife Rita (75), from Geduld, Springs, were approached by a black male, asking for 'directions'. A second man then stabbed him with a knife from behind and threw Dirk on the back of his bakkie (pick-up truck), together with Rita. There were a total of four armed black males who attacked the couple. They were driven around, then dumped in a field outside Springs. Mr Koekemoer died on the bakkie. Mrs Koekemoer was found by a farmer, wandering around in the veld, looking for help. She was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital. The SAPS Springs asked the public who may have seen anything to contact them at 011 365 5700/19/20 or contact Capt Ramphora 079 694 6936.
