Dmitry Ilyich Ziloti

He was a manager at the Naryshkin Pady estate, near Petrovo-Solovo in Timofeevka. He often visited the Satins in Ivanovka, was especially friendly with A. A. Satin, and often used his advice on organizing the management of the estate.

Against the will of his mother, he married a peasant woman, Vasilisa Pavlovna Balabanova, with whom he lived on a farm near Znamensky. He was killed by bandits in 1919.

From the memoirs of Dmitry Ilyich Ziloti:

“As a child, I often visited the estate of my grandmother, Varvara Vasilievna Rachmaninova. True, after the death of my grandfather Arkady Alexandrovich in 1881, my grandmother transferred the Znamenskoye estate to my mother, Yulia Arkadyevna. And the actual mistress of the estate was my mother, who managed all the household affairs. By the beginning of the 20th century, economic affairs in Znamenka were in a deplorable state. A lot of money was needed to repair the house and outbuildings. In 1908, the estate was mortgaged to the bank. Varvara Vasilievna transferred the estate not to her sons, but to her daughter, not relying on her sons, who led an extremely carefree lifestyle.

At first, my brothers: Alexander and Sergei invested their money in the estate, and after Sergei acquired his own estate near St. Petersburg, and Alexander in Finland, they stopped supporting Znamenskoye and the estate was mortgaged to the bank...”

Был управляющим в имении Нарышкиных Пады, у Петрово-Соловово в Тимофеевке. Часто бывал в Ивановке у Сатиных, особенно был дружен с А. А. Сатиным, часто пользовался его советами по организации управления имением.

Вопреки воли матери, женился на крестьянке Василисе Павловне Балабановой, с которой жил на хуторе вблизи Знаменского. Был убит бандитами в 1919 году.

Из воспоминаний Дмитрия Ильича Зилоти:

«В детстве я часто бывал в имении своей бабушки — Варвары Васильевны Рахманиновой. Правда, после смерти дедушки Аркадия Александровича в 1881 году имение Знаменское бабушка передала моей матери — Юлии Аркадьевне. И фактической хозяйкой имения была моя мать, которая вела все хозяйственные дела. К началу 20 века хозяйственные дела в Знаменке были в плачевном состоянии. Требовались большие деньги для ремонта дома и хозяйственных построек. В 1908 году имение было заложено в банке. Варвара Васильевна передала имение не сыновьям, а дочери, не надеясь на сыновей, которые вели крайне беспечный образ жизни.

Поначалу мои братья: Александр и Сергей вкладывали свои деньги в имение, а после того, как Сергей обзавёлся своим имением под Петербургом, а Александр в Финляндии, они перестали поддерживать Знаменское и имение было заложено в банке... ».
