About Dolf Lloyd
Dolf Lloyd (1934 - 2003)
Brief overview:
Dolf (68), and his neighbour, Johannes Jacobus Zandberg (70), were found murdered around 09h00 on 10th March, in Dolf's house, on his Estoire smallholding in Bloemfontein, said police spokesperson Thandi Mbambo. The friends were both strangled to death.
They were attacked by three men and a woman, two of whom had worked for Lloyd. Lloyd's mother-in-law, Magriet Smit (79), was wounded in the attack and was admitted to hospital.
Lloyd's wife, Zenobia, called to check on Margaret, who lived on the smallholding. Magriet was overpowered in the bathroom, her hands were tied with wire and a towel was fastened over her face to try and suffocate her. Her dog Shoeba was strangled with wire when he tried to come to her rescue. Speaking from her hospital bed, she told of hearing the death cries of her son-in-law. "It was the cruellest, most horrible experience to go through. They wanted to kill me."
