Donna M. Burk (August 25, 1938 - December 2, 2010)

Donna M. Burk age 72, of Bad Axe, died Thursday morning, December 2, at her home following a massive heart attack.

She was born August 25, 1938, at the home of her parents, the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Staley) Weidman in Oliver Twp. She was a 1956 graduate of Elkton High School and lived in the Elkton / Bad Axe area most of her life. On July 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to Howard Burk at the Assembly of God Church, Bad Axe.

They owned and operated Burk's Variety Store in Elkton for several years, selling in 1972. She was employed as a Nurses Aide at Scheurer Hospital for almost 25 years, retiring in 2000. Needing to stay busy, she applied at Walmart, working as a greeter for a while and currently as a cashier. Donna was an active member of Community Wesleyan Church, enjoyed doing cross stitch and spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Surviving are five children, Keith (Rhonda) Burk of Lincoln, NB, Kevin (Laura) Burk of Pigeon, Brian Burk of Bad Axe, Brenda (Larry) Leppek and Brad (Shelli) Burk both of Grant Twp; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; six brothers, Orville (Pauline) Weidman of Caro, Les (Donna) Weidman of Chandler Twp., Herb (Ellen) Weidman of Sterling Hts., twin, Don (Kay) Weidman and Gary (Debbie) Weidman both of Saginaw and three sisters, Eunice Tripp of Sterling Hts, Bernadine (Ken) Thompson of Utica and Sabina (Ken) Johnston of Los Gatos, CA. Preceding her in death was a brothers, Cliff Weidman, a sister, Mary Reibling and step sister, Muriel Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 8, at the Community Wesleyan Church, Elkton. Rev. Wm Onan, pastor will officiate with burial in Souletown (Chandler Twp.) Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 2 to 9 PM Tuesday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and after 10 AM Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to her church
