In 1968, they returned to the United States to make their permanent home on Cape Cod in Falmouth, Mass. However, during the next 30 years, they would travel the world and serve active overseas ministries in Belgium and Southern France. In 2004, they moved to Hagerstown, where Mrs. Campbell was born and raised. She remained there, following her husband's death, until 2007. She then relocated to McLean, Va.

She was a past member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown and St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Falmouth.

Mrs. Campbell is known by friends and family for her love of animals, especially cats, and was an active volunteer for the Friends of Falmouth Dog Pound. She and her husband also were host parents to baseball players in the Cape Cod Baseball League for many summers, as well as many foreign exchange students.
