Dorothy COOLLEY was born c1726

Dorothy married Robert GREY on 22/9/1766 at St Andrew Holborn.

After Robert's death married John HANDLAND on 3/11/1781 at Southwark, St Goerge

Dorothy was convicted of perjury and sentenced to 7 years transportation. She arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/1/1788 on "Lady Penrhyn"

Dorothy left the colony in June 1793 on "Kitty"

NOTE: "The Fatal Shore" by Robert HUGHES recorded that she committed suicide at Sydney at age 82 in 1789 - hanged from a gumtree (? First suicide in the colony). This is apparantly incorrect.
