About Dorothy Daniell

Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Chamberline-16

Dorothy Chamberline was born about 1654 and died about 16 Oct 1711 at Charleston, South Carolina.

The source of Robert Daniell's two wives Dorothy Chamberlaine and Martha Wainwright is the book Daniell family History Book 2 by Clara Daniell Williams:

First marriage to wife Dorothy Chamberlaine. They had one child, Robert Daniell. The source given by Clara Daniell Williams is: "Charles Town S.C. (record on micro-film handwritten) Robert Daniel II son of Robert Daniell & Dorothy Chamberlayne was born 1675." Williams does not say what reel she looked at.

According to Clara Daniell Williams, Dorothy is named in the will of her brother Edward Chamberlaine, Island of Barbadoes of July 20, 1673, proved October 1, 1676. However, that may not be correct - Williams is probably referring to "bro Daniell & my sis his wf" which is in transcripts 'Barbados will and administrations Vol 1', however the transcript in Withington has "my brother Daniell and sister Daniell his wife" which sounds more like he is referring to his own brother Daniell. [1]

Clara Daniell Williams also writes that Robert I deeded a gift June 29, 1710 ..."for and in consideration of the respect and affection I bear unto Madam Dorothy Daniell". Williams makes the following comment: "She is not referred as wife because they were divorced but he was doing this in compassion for the loss of their son. Dorothy later deeded the same described gift to her grandson, Marmaduke Daniell".
