Dortha "Dot" Lucile Spencer TIPTON, Iowa - Dortha "Dot" Lucile Spencer, 93, of Tipton, died December 21, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from a lingering illness. Services are 11 a.m., Monday, at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Pastor DeLane Wright will officiate. The organist is Sylvia Gould and vocalist is Gail Flemming. Burial is at Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation is 10 - 11 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home. A memorial has been established. Mrs. Spencer was born Dec. 19, 1908, in Cedar County to Thomas J. and Emma S. (Jennings) Nauman. She married Raymond E. Spencer Sept. 2, 1930, in Tipton. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1927 and attended Tipton Junior College and Iowa State Teachers College. She taught fifth and sixth grade in rural Tipton. She also taught in Springdale and Standwood schools. She was a member of Tipton United Methodist church, Ruth Circle, Tipton Study Club and a life member of Order of Eastern Star. She was a past member of Bridge Club and Pinochle
She was preceded in death her parents, Thomas and Emma Nauman, husband, Raymond Spencer on May 10, 1974; sisters, Grace Kirkpatrick, Stella Woodhouse, Ethel Nevergall, Edna Buck and Mildred Zajicek.
