Douglass Norwood

His parents were Alexander Norwood and Abigail Norwood (Douglass). He had a sister, Rebecca Jane. After his father death in 1848, his family moved in with his grandparents, Archibald and Sarah Douglass. In the late 1850s, he moved to Fort Madison, Iowa. In August 1861, he enlisted into the Union Army, Company H, 2nd Illinois Volunteer Cavalry, for 3 years. However, for medical reasons, he was discharged in October of 1862. He married Abigail R (Scott) on June 8, 1865, in Fort Madison, Iowa. Abigail's first husband, Charles Gibb, died in 1863. Abigail died in July 1872.
Douglas then married Emeline E Hartzell and they had eight children together. After she died (1898), he moved to California. He died on 30 June 1927 and was buried in Los Angeles, California.
