Dr Claude Drummond (1928 - 1998)
Brief overview:
Claude (72), a farmer and homeopath, was murdered after four men, one pretending to be sick, approached him on his farm near in Morebeng, Soekmekaar, near Louis Trichardt Limpopo on 18th April 1998.
Dr Drummond took them to his farm surgery, and the men produced firearms and demanding R7,000. When he said he didn’t have the money, he was shot three times in the chest.
Dr Drummond died in the ambulance which was on the way to the local hospital.

- General Viljoen accused the government of not being serious about solving the farm murders. He said the government should appoint a commission of investigation, aided by independent criminologists. “Such an investigation may give wider information as to why criminality in SA is suddenly the order of the day.”
- On the same day "Karel Kruger (70) (Karel Johannes Kriel Kruger), a former Venda homeland police commander, was shot twice in the upper body after six unidentified suspects forced him off the old N1 freeway, near Potgietersrus at roughly 10h00. Regional police spokesman, Captain Blackie Swart, told African Eye News Service (South Africa) on Sunday that Kruger managed to run almost 400-metres away from his attackers before collapsing near a railway line. He died just before an ambulance arrived on the scene."
