About Dr Francis Taliaferro Brooke, (CSA)
Francis was baptized on October 5, 1842, in Richmond's Monumental Church. While a student at Washington College, he enlisted as a Corporal in Co. "I", 4th Virginia Infantry on June 2, 1861. In November 1861 he accepted a commission as a 1st Lieutenant in Co. "A", 30th Virginia Infantry. He was wounded at the Battle of Antietam, September 17, 1862, and resigned on March 1, 1865.
He received his degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1867, and served as the superintendent of the Central Lunatic Asylum in Petersburg, Virginia.* Reference: Find A Grave Memorial - SmartCopy: Jul 7 2021, 20:33:42 UTC
