Children Louise Lewellyn Nabors 1811–1880

Doctor was born in 1757. Doctor was his given name, not his profession. His parents, Samuel Llewellyn and Hannah Wilks* were said to have been Welsh Immigrants who settled in Monongalia County, Virginia. His father, Samuel, opened a ferry across the Cheat river connecting Virginia and Pennsylvania in the 1780s, which was referred to as Lime or Lewellin’s Ferry. Doctor was the youngest of 7 full-blooded siblings and 4 older half-brothers, who were offspring of his parents’ first marriages. Prior to the beginning of the Revolutionary war, in 1783, Doctor was living in the town of Bethlehem in Washington County, Pennsylvania, which was about 50 miles north of his home town in Monongalia County, Virginia. He served as a Private in Pennsylvania during the war. In 1790, back in Virginia, he married Ruth Fowler, a Maryland native. The couple had 3 children before Ruth passed away. Doctor then married Virginian, Catherine Maiden in December of 1794. He had 11 more children with Catherine. Doctor lived a long life, passing away on Mar 23, 1847, near Union City in Monongalia County, Virginia. His grave, in the Nabor Cemetery, is noted in the Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots.
