About Dr. John Revere
Dr. John Revere
A founder of the New York University Medical School
He was the 16th and youngest child of Paul Revere, he graduated from Harvard University in 1807, and earned his M.D. from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland), he became one of the most prominent physicians of his time.
In 1841 he was a founding faculty member of the medical school of the University of the City of New York—forerunner of the NYU School of Medicine and Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Revere had a distinguished career in patient care, research, and especially education—holding the school’s first chair in the theory and practice of medicine.
He married to Lydia LeBaron Goodwin.
