About Dr. Markus Mordechai Meir Pollak

Studied at the Yeshiva in Pressburg and was the personal secretary of Rabbi Avrohom Shmuel Benjamin Schreiber, the dean of the yeshiva and rabbi of the city. Rabbi Schreiber also engaged him as a tutor for his son Simcha Bunem, who would later be his father's successor. Afterwards he studied at the University in Prague and after completing his PhD he was appointed rabbi of Weisskirchen in Moravia, now Hranice in the Czech Republic. Later he became rabbi in Holesov, where he served for 21 years, and finally he was appointed a judge on the rabbinical court in Vienna, a position he fulfilled till the end of his life. This information comes from the detailed description provided by his eldest son Heinrich Pollak, supervisor of Jewish education for the Vienna school system.
