After his graduation, he moved to Zanesville,OH, where he practiced until 1834, when he removed to Wayne Co,MI. In 1839, he removed to Mt Carmel,IL.

He married Grace (Loper) Newkirk on Oct 20,1818 in Scioto Co,OH.

Children: Paul Sears(husband of Eliza J Gibson Sears), Clarissa Sears Bishop, and Nathan Henry Sears.
