Company G "Lunenburg Light Dragoons" of Lunenburg County, 9th Virginia Calvary, W.H.F. Lee's Brigade, Fitz. Lee's Division, Calvary, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.
Residence was not listed; a 37 year-old Physician; 1842 Graduate of VMI.
Enlisted on 6/7/1861 at Lunenburg County, VA., he was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in "G" Co., 9th VA Calvary.
Promoted to Capt 4/28/1862.
He resigned on 11/9/1862 for ill health and owning 20 Negroes.
Postwar he was a farmer in Nottoway County, VA. His inscribed prewar drill manual is at VMI.
The 9th Calvary Regiment was formed in January, 1862, using the 1st Battalion Virginia Calvary as it's nucleus. Its companies were from the counties of Stafford, Caroline, Westmoreland, Lancaster, Essex, Spotsylvania, Lunenburg, King William, King George and Richmond.
