"said to have been a physician who settled in Claverack NY but no record of his having lived there has been found.(More probable): Lived in or near New York City and had a son Pieter, also a physician who died 3/24/1798"

Visiting surgeon at the Almshouse in New York 1784-1786 (Carlisle's Bellevue (sic) Hospital. p. 121)

The Notes of the Common Council, City of New York show the following:

24 Feb 1784 “Order by the Mayor to issue a Warrant on the City Treasurer to advance to Dr. Peter Van Beuren on Account the Sum of Twenty Pounds for Attendance and Medicines at the Alms House.”

23 Aug. 1786 paym’t ordered: Dr. Peter Van Beuren for attendance of persons in the Goal (sic) and Sundry por in the City, by order NB and two Acct. …. 18 pounds, 6 s. –

However the 1767 TAX LIST CLAVERACK, COLUMBIA COUNTY, NEW YORK includes a "Peter van Beuren" as of 2/1/1766. [Claverack included the present towns of Hillsdale, Hudson and part of Ghent. It is now located in Columbia County. There are two slightly different copies of this tax list, written by different hands.]6 "THE LIST OF RENSELAER MENNOR OF CLAVERAC" 1 February 1766

      He married Magdalena <?> Kimber Benham/Van Beuren (Rn=48246).
      Baptized on 21 January 1713.   Occupation 1 - - Physician. First   Residence - - New York City. Will - - His will was dated 1764 and proved 1767 (~• ed note: other sources say he died 1787 {typo?) .           741.     i. Peter &ltPieter> Van Beuren Doctor (Rn=16496), who was born 1747 and died 24 March 1798 at 51 years of age. 
                      He married Maria &ltArent> Gilbert Van Beuren (Rn=16551), who was born 19 March 1757, a daughter of Arent &ltWilliam> Gilbert (Rn=22786) and Annatje &ltGillis> De Mandeville Gilbert (Rn=22787).
                        Occupation 1 - - Physician.
      +   742.    ii. John &ltPieter> Van Beuren (Rn=39838) and married Letitia &ltThomas> Smith Van Beuren/Trafford (Rn=39833).
